Shannon Mello's intention of bringing new perspectives of the earth and its elements into view is evident in her paintings. Through the use of raw materials such as charcoal, rust, gold leaf, and pigments, her passion for the outdoors guides her creative endeavors. Her affection for the natural decomposition of elements, and the visual tension with human-made materials, began as a child.

Often exploring the woods, creeks, lakes, and mountains, she has always been drawn to the contrast between human-made objects and their natural surroundings.

Born in Michigan and now living in Colorado, Shannon draws inspiration from both states, often including expansive skies and dappled water reflections. She exhibits regularly in Colorado and the surrounding region, and paints full time out of Colorado Springs.
