Born outside of London, England, Jenna gains inspiration from her European roots; the places she has lived and travelled; and her current surroundings in Idaho's Rocky Mountains.
Her work often draws on one meaning of her name, "Little Bird," and is inspired by humanity's connection to and stewardship of the Earth. Jenna translates creatures, birds in particular, as ethereal messengers bridging the gap between heaven and Earth. Incorporating pattern, design, and transitions of light to dark, she symbolically connects to nature through her Sainted Birds, Sainted Beasts, and Sainted Bugs series. Her goal is to capture the story and soul of her subjects: the harmony between human and natural beauty.
"The lines and earthy tones in the lower portions of my abstracts reference landscapes, and in a broader sense our connection to the Earth. Above, more open areas can represent the sky. Like the nature that surrounds us, our lives are made up of distinct layers: experiences, choices, memories. I enjoy creating abstract portals or passageways that take viewers into other joyful and uplifting realms, and these birds have become my muses and messengers, bridging my world and theirs."
After studying abroad in Italy (BYU / Santa Reparata School of Art) and participating in a group show in New Zealand, Jenna graduated from Brigham Young University with a BFA in 2006. She has since participated in numerous shows throughout the United States, with hummingbirds a continual source of inspiration.
